Job summary

The Cliff Cave Branch of St. Louis County Library is seeking a part-time Library Clerk to support the circulation desk and assist in delivering public service.

Essential duties include shelving and sorting materials, preparing the library for opening and closing, locating titles for customer requests, and maintaining the collection's order. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED and a strong commitment to customer service; benefits include paid vacation and employee assistance

Job description

The Cliff Cave Branch is seeking a part-time Library Clerk to provide support to the circulation desk personnel by performing various clerical tasks to assist in the delivery of public service.

The mission of the St. Louis County Library is to provide the resources and services to enrich individual minds, enhance lives and expand perspectives. SLCL is an award winning library system with branches throughout St. Louis County. We have transformed into a meaningful community resource with updated facilities and an array of programs and partnerships that serve over 860,000 patrons.

Salary: $16.69 an hour

Hours:

Wednesday, Thursday: 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Saturday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

One Sunday per month

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Sorts and shelves Library materials in proper sequence, in accordance with performance standards, so materials are available for customer and staff use.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

• Ability to bend to very low and very high shelves when reaching for books or other Library materials
• Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
• Ability to push a full cart of books or other Library materials
• Ability to stand for up to eight hours per shift
• Ability to operate various types of Library equipment
• Ability to use a pc, word processing and e-mail
