Job summary

The New Lenox Public Library District is seeking a knowledgeable, energetic individual to join the Patron Services (Circulation) team. This hands-on, part-time role supports daily circulation tasks, assists patrons at the desk, and helps with holds, fines, and basic computer use.

You will interact with patrons, process transactions, and contribute to a welcoming library experience. The position offers a friendly work environment and opportunities for continued training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of customer service experience preferred.
• Comfort handling money and basic math operations.
• Ability to stay friendly and professional with the public.

Responsibilities

• Operate the circulation desk and check in/out materials.
• Issue patron cards and maintain user records.
• Place holds and process reservations for materials.
• Assist patrons with self-check, online records, and paying fees.
• Collect fines and fees and answer routine inquiries over the phone.
• Assist with shelving, restocking, and library program setup.
• Provide excellent customer service and support to library patrons.
