Job summary

New Lenox Public Library is seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic Patron Services Specialist to join the Circulation team. This part-time role handles check-ins/outs, patron assistance, holds, and fines in a fast-paced library setting.

The position reports to the Patron & Technical Services Manager and requires at least a high school diploma, currency handling skills, and 1 year of customer service experience. 22 hours per week, non-exempt.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience handling currency and basic math is required.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience is required.
• Ability to create a friendly and courteous first impression for patrons.
• Knowledge of library functions is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate the circulation desk and process check-ins/outs of all materials.
• Issue patron cards and maintain patron records in the database.
• Place holds and manage reserved materials for patrons.
• Collect fines and process payments.
• Assist patrons with self-check and online account access.
