Job summary

Davis County Library is hiring a Branch Manager at the Centerville Library in Utah. This full-time role directs a branch library, oversees staff, and participates in system-wide planning.

The position includes comprehensive benefits from day one and opportunities for professional development. The ideal candidate holds an ALA-accredited MLS (or a Master’s in public/business administration) and has four years of library experience, including supervisory roles.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited college or university, or a Master’s degree in public or business administration.
• Four years of full-time paid library experience, two years in a supervisory role.
• Preference for city or county public library experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversees assigned location; supervises clerical and professional employees; trains and evaluates staff; manages schedules and performance per County policies.
• Manages processes and activities; plans long-term collection development and facility maintenance; reviews materials for purchase.
• Responds to reference questions, assists patrons, and provides technical support for staff and patrons; trains patrons in catalog usage and electronic resources.
• Participates in system administrative meetings; helps evaluate and modify library operations and plan future activities and projects.
• Coordinates outreach and community relation programs at branch level in line with system-wide initiatives.
• Prepares budget information and monitors expenditures as requested by the Director.
• Travels to conferences and events outside of Utah and to Davis County locations as needed.

Education

Master's degree in Library Science (ALA accredited)
