Chester County Government seeks a Part-Time Library Assistant for the John W. Jacobs Technology Center. The role involves providing customer service, assisting with technology, and conducting workshops. Ideal candidates will possess strong communication and organizational skills, enjoy working with the public, and have a High School Diploma or GED. Flexibility in hours, including nights and weekends, is required.
The Part-Time Library Assistant at the John W. Jacobs Technology Center (JTC) provides direct customer service at the main JTC and the Makerspace desks. Key duties include assisting the public and library staff with computers, scanners, printers, and Makerspace equipment. Responsibilities also involve conducting workshops, setting up equipment for classes, scheduling programs, proctoring online exams, checking STEM Kits in and out, and performing other duties as required.
This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, flexibility, a genuine enjoyment of working with the public, a commitment to public service, and the ability to handle stressful situations. Candidates must demonstrate current PC proficiency, including internet, email, and Microsoft Office skills, along with strong troubleshooting abilities. A High School Diploma or GED is required, with some college preferred. Previous customer service experience is also preferred.
All library positions require criminal background and child abuse clearances, including a report from the Pennsylvania State Police, Child Abuse History Clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance.
Note: All employees are considered mandated reporters of suspected child abuse under the Child Protective Services Law.
Frequent sitting, walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and handling up to 25 pounds. Occasionally work with arms above shoulders. The environment is generally quiet, with flexible hours including weekends and evenings.
