Job summary

City of Scottsdale is seeking a Library Aide for the Civic Center Library to physically prepare and organize incoming books and media for circulation. You will apply labels, security tags, and maintain inventory with library software, while assisting with basic repairs and troubleshooting circulated items.

The position also serves as a back-up to digitization and cataloging staff, with a preference for experience in cataloging or a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years of college coursework completed.
  • One year of public contact experience resolving customer service needs.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or job-related training or experience may substitute for the educational requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and organize incoming books and media for circulation, including applying labels and security tags and maintaining inventory with library software.
  • Perform minimal repairs on damaged items and troubleshoot issues with circulated items, coordinating with staff to resolve problems.

About the Position

The CMMS Library Aide physically prepares and organizes incoming books and media for circulation, including applying labels, security tags, and maintaining inventory with library software. They perform minimal repairs on damaged items, and troubleshoot issues with previously circulated items, often communicating with staff to resolve problems. This position also acts as a back-up to the digitization staff and cataloging staff, so having experience with cataloging, or willingness to learn is preferred. This hands-on role demands attention to detail, prioritization, excellent customer service, problem-solving skills, and teamwork.

Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $45,884/annually.

The City of Scottsdale offers:

Education and Experience

All Assignments:

  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
  • Two years college work completed.
  • One year of public contact experience resolving various levels of customer service needs.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or job-related training or experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements

All Assignments:

Years of experience are based on a work schedule of 2,080 hours per year for full-time positions and 1,040 hours per year for part-time positions, and while work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
