Job summary

University of Houston is seeking an Acquisitions Receiving Specialist to coordinate daily operations for library materials, including print and subscription resources, in the Ex Libris Alma system.

The role involves training and coordinating library specialists and student workers, managing bibliographic records, and assisting with purchasing and subscription stewardship. A Bachelor’s degree is required and prior acquisitions experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Experience providing acquisitions-related library services is preferred.
• Experience with receiving ordered inventory in a library or retail context is a plus.
• Experience using library systems such as Ex Libris Alma is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate receipt of print materials and subscription resources in the library management system.
• Collaborate with department members to handle receiving scenarios and special handling requirements.
• Develop and maintain documentation for receiving workflows for firm orders, standing orders, and continuing resources.
• Review bibliographic records and submit work orders for cataloging or processing as needed.
• Coordinate with Resource Management and Metadata units for binding or special projects.
• Distribute interlibrary loan materials to appropriate recipients.
• Assist with acquisitions-related duties, including purchasing and subscription stewardship.
