Job summary

The City of Mesa's Main Library Branch seeks a Librarian II for Community Engagement/Outreach. This role drives the bookmobile to scheduled stops, programs, and events after training and certification. Librarian II is a journey-level professional performing reference, outreach, and collection duties in a dynamic library setting.

Night and weekend work is required, and some supervision may be exercised over paraprofessionals or volunteers. A valid Arizona driver’s license is required by hire.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Library Science or related field (ALA accredited).
• 1–3 years of professional library experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides programming for the Mesa Public Library Outreach team, including the Mesa Express Library, satellite, and bookmobile services.
• Assists the Community Engagement Supervisory Librarian with a variety of programming and outreach opportunities.
• Fosters library engagement through collaboration, relationship building, and partnerships with City Departments and other community partners.
• Assists with planning community programs and events.
• Assists the Community Engagement Supervisory Librarian to ensure community interests are reflected in library services.
• Makes recommendations to improve library services to best serve the community.
• Uses innovation to link resources and customers through new and expanded services.
