Job summary

City of Avondale, AZ is seeking a Librarian III (Branch Manager) to oversee a library branch, including staffing, scheduling, budgets, and program development. The role requires leading governance, policy implementation, and community partnerships to deliver excellent patron services.

The candidate will manage grants, track statistics, and report results while ensuring facilities remain welcoming and safe for patrons and staff.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Library Science or equivalent.
3 years of professional library experience with budgets, collection development, and program planning.
2 years of supervisory experience required.

Responsibilities

Oversees all aspects of managing and supervising a library branch, including staffing, scheduling, facility maintenance, collection development, policies and procedures, customer relations, reporting, and programming.
Represents the library to community groups and coordinates partner-led programs aligning with the city plan.
Develops goals, services, and policies for the branch and implements new initiatives.
Maintains budget, prepares statistical reports, and manages grants and expenditures.
Provides exceptional customer service and assists patrons with digital devices.
Ensures facilities are safe, welcoming, and well-maintained.
