Job summary

Yuma County in Arizona is seeking a professional librarian to perform branch-level library work under general supervision. The role includes supervising staff, delivering customer service and reference support, and coordinating programs for patrons of all ages.

Hours may vary (Tuesday–Saturday) to meet library district needs. You will train staff and volunteers, prepare monthly reports, handle cash transactions, and assist with computing and digital resources.

Qualifications

  • Assists with supervision, training, and coordination of branch staff and volunteers.
  • Provides customer service and reference support; assists patrons with email accounts and various applications.
  • Prepares monthly reports and statistics on Google Docs.
  • Responsible for handling cash and processing transactions as scheduled.
  • Develops and manages adult public library programs; may assist with programs for other ages.
  • Instructs patrons on use of electronic resources and digital tools.
  • May print calendars and assist with social media events or branch publications.

Responsibilities

  • Performs professional library work of moderate difficulty in a Branch Library under general supervision.
  • Provides training, instruction, and orientation to new employees, staff, and volunteers.
  • Participates in interviewing and selecting new employees and volunteers; may determine work schedules.
  • Supports customer service and reference duties; troubleshoots library devices and assists with electronic resources.
  • Compiles reports, bibliographies, and search guides; serves as acting supervisor in the absence of the Branch Manager.
