Job summary

The State Education Resource Center (SERC) Librarian leads and manages its educational library and resource services for Connecticut’s educational community statewide. The Librarian provides research assistance and access to credible, current resources for educators, school personnel, families, students, and community partners.

Established to support students with disabilities, the Library also focuses on equity, excellence, and social justice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field.
• MLIS preferred or equivalent experience.
• Experience with cataloging and reference services.
• Commitment to equity and serving diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Operate circulation desk and manage patron accounts.
• Select and catalog resources for specialized collections.
• Create research guides and library resource pages.
• Assist patrons with locating resources and using library technology.
• Provide bibliographic instruction and information literacy training.
• Provide reference assistance to patrons and colleagues.
• Coordinate library services with SERC programs and community outreach.
• Develop relationships with diverse communities to inform outreach.
• Assess service needs of educators and families and plan action.
• Support Virtual Library development and online resources.
• Identify tech advances to improve processes.
