Job summary

The University of Connecticut School of Law seeks a Student Engagement Research & Instruction Librarian to support student success and provide broad research, reference, and instructional services to students, faculty, and staff. The role emphasizes creativity, strategic thinking, and adapting library services for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• A graduate degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited program.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to make effective presentations to individuals and/or groups.
• Ability to work collegially with diverse groups.
• Evidence of participation in professional development.
• Ability to work evenings and/or weekend hours.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver programs, services, and events that promote and support student success, including research consultations, training, outreach events, and library orientation.
• Coordinate marketing of library services, including managing the Law Library's blog and creating web content and displays.
• Hire, train, and supervise student employees who staff the Information Desk.
• Serve as a liaison to student groups and student-edited publications.
• Assess student research needs and solicit improvement recommendations through surveys and focus groups.
• Provide research and instructional support for day and evening division students, including presentations and instruction.
• Contribute to faculty research service with in-depth research and bibliographies, memoranda, and other deliverables.
• Provide reference assistance in person and virtually, including evening/weekend rotations.
• Develop instructional materials and tutorials using various formats.
• Select materials for the library collection and participate in collection development.
• Participate in meetings, committees, and campus events; pursue professional development.
