Job summary

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh seeks a highly motivated Librarian to join the Career, Business, Nonprofit team at the Main location in Oakland. The role involves connecting customers to resources, delivering high-quality service, and supporting diverse communities to meet work, life, and educational goals.

The position is full-time (37.5 hours weekly), with days, evenings and weekends required. MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program is required, with emphasis on workforce and nonprofit

Qualifications

• MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited school is required.
• Knowledge of workforce and employment issues; assist job seekers with career development.
• Experience with Business, Job and Career, and Nonprofit resources/databases.
• Three+ years of progressive service-oriented experience, with leadership.
• Public library experience preferred in a diverse urban environment.
• Strong customer service, both in person and virtually; excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, evaluate, and promote programs for Business, Job and Career, and Nonprofit.
• Provide high-quality 1:1 support for business, career, and nonprofit resources.
• Cultivate a dynamic Workforce and Economic collection based on usage and interest.
• Deliver patron-focused customer service and embody service excellence.
• Represent CLP to the community and collaborate with other departments.
• Mentor staff, interpret library policy, and participate in system-wide initiatives.
• Engage in professional development and demonstrate technology use.
