Olympic Steel is seeking a Leveler Operator for the second shift in Bedford Heights, OH. The role involves setting up and running the leveler, loading coil stock, feeding through rolls, and ensuring the finished sheet meets customer specifications.

Ideal candidates are mechanically inclined, safety conscious, with basic math skills, and able to operate cranes or lifting devices. Experience with computer programs and a high school diploma is preferred.

• Mechanically inclined, production oriented, and safety and quality conscious.
• General knowledge of crane operation and ancillary lifting devices.
• Basic math skills required.
• Working knowledge of general computer programs required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate leveler and pay-off equipment according to established procedures.
• Confirm hardness, gauge width, and finished material conformity to job requirements and customer specifications.
• Operate console to load coil stock to pay-off mechanism, set width, feed through leveler rolls, and adjust settings to secure flat sheet stock.
• Thread through automatic length and sheet count, set feeds and speed for optimum quantity and quality.
• Stack required sheets according to order and oversee packaging to meet specifications.
• Weigh and prepare shipping and stock tags, attach to orders, and remove unused coils from payoff.
