Job summary

Olympic Steel in Ohio is seeking a Leveler Operator to support production on the 2nd shift (4:00pm–2:30am). You will work with a helper, perform setups, verify material specs, and feed through leveler rolls to produce flat sheet stock.

Responsibilities include threading through automatic length, stacking sheets, packaging to meet customer specs, recording data, and helping with shipping tags. Safety and quality are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Mechanically inclined, safety and quality conscious.
• General knowledge of crane operation and ancillary lifting devices.
• Basic math skills required.
• Working knowledge of general computer programs required.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up in coordination with a production helper to complete job setups.
• Confirm hardness, gauge width, and material conformance to specs.
• Load coil stock on pay-off mechanism and adjust width on the leveler.
• Feed through leveler rolls and set speeds for quality output.
• Thread through automatic length and sheet count; stack sheets per order.
• Oversee packaging to meet customer specs and finalize order tags.
• Weigh and prepare shipping tags; attach to orders.
• Record production data and time information; report to supervisor.
• Occasionally operate units manually and identify faulty operation.
