Job summary

Olympic Steel is seeking a Leveler Operator to support our production line. You will work with a helper to perform setups, verify material conformity, and feed stock through leveler equipment to deliver flat sheets that meet customer specs.

Responsibilities include packaging, tagging, and inventory handling, with attention to hardness, width, and length. The 1st shift runs 6:00am–4:30pm, with potential nights and weekends as business needs require.

Qualifications

• Mechanically inclined and safety-conscious.
• General knowledge of crane operation and ancillary lifting devices.
• Basic math skills.
• Working knowledge of general computer programs.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Setup with an assigned production helper following established procedures.
• Verify hardness, gauge width, and conformity to job specs.
• Operate console to load coil stock, set width, and feed through leveler rolls.
• Thread through automatic length and sheet count; set feeds and speed.
• Stack sheets according to order and oversee packaging to meet specs.
• Verify final product hardness, width, and length for order conformity.
• Weigh and tag shipping materials and attach to orders.
• Remove unused coils from payoff for inventory return.
• Occasionally operate units manually and detect faulty operation.
• Record production data and time information.
• 1st shift: 6:00am–4:30pm; some nights and weekends as needed.
