Job summary

Legislative Service Commission (LSC) in Columbus, OH is seeking Legislation Processing Specialists. Duties include typing, proofreading, and final processing of legislative documents for the Ohio General Assembly, with evening/weekend overtime when required.

The team supports bills, amendments, and fiscal analyses in a fast-paced, confidential public service environment. Starting pay is $20.75 per hour, with merit-based increases and a comprehensive state benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency with word processing, particularly Microsoft Word, with fast and accurate typing.
• Excellent grammar, punctuation, spelling, and proofreading skills.
• Problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work overtime, scheduled or unscheduled, occasionally on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Typing, formatting, and proofreading of legislative documents, including bills, amendments, and resolutions.
• Electronically processing final versions of legislative documents.
• Applying styles and ensuring proper bill drafting rules.
• Monitoring an assignment database to facilitate prompt completion of tasks.
• Entering and verifying data as needed.
• Staffing the bill preparation area or other support areas during night work and overtime as required.
• Assisting other processing specialists in producing documents and analyses.
• Providing customer service to and assisting LSC staff.
