Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a founding engineer inside the Legal group, embedded with the CTO Office. You will surface automation opportunities in contract review, regulatory filings, and governance, prototyping on Coinbase's AI platform and driving adoption across Legal teams.

You will own the automation roadmap, translate complex workflows into engineering requirements, and ensure outputs are auditable and compliant with privilege boundaries and human-in-the-loop controls.

Qualifications

5+ years of software engineering in production systems.
Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based apps with guardrails and human-in-the-loop design.
Ability to embed with non-technical domain experts and translate workflows into engineering requirements.
Familiarity with contract lifecycle, regulatory filing workflows, entity governance, privilege data handling.

Responsibilities

Embed with Legal leadership to surface automation opportunities with high business leverage.
Prototype using Coinbase's AI platform and define build-vs-buy strategy for Legal tooling.
Own the Legal automation roadmap in partnership with VP of Legal and CCO, translating workflows into engineering needs.
Ensure outputs are traceable, auditable, and defensible with proper privilege controls and human oversight.
Drive adoption through internal sessions and feedback loops so tools get used across Legal teams.
