OpenAI's Forward Deployed Engineering team partners with customers to turn research breakthroughs into production systems, embedding deeply with users to solve high-leverage problems. We hire a Forward Deployed Engineer to build and deploy AI systems for legal work, collaborating with senior practitioners to identify use cases, prototype solutions, and prove measurable value in real deployments.

You will own the technical work from discovery to production adoption, translating customer workflows

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software/ML engineering or technical deployment with customer-facing ownership.

Responsibilities

• Embed with customers to understand workflows and identify high-value opportunities.
• Build full-stack systems delivering customer value and enabling learnings.
• Guide adoption with customer teams and translate feedback into product improvements.
• Make trade-offs between scope, speed, and quality to protect delivery.
• Contribute code when needed to progress projects.
• Codify best practices into reusable tools or playbooks.
• Share field feedback to help Research and Product improve model behavior.
