Job description

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, a leading global law firm with offices across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking a Legal Administrative Specialist (LAS) to support various practice groups. This role involves providing administrative and document processing support in a client-focused environment.

Maintaining an in-office presence is crucial for delivering our services through a collaborative work culture. The policy requires this role to work in the office three days a week, unless client demands or approved accommodations specify otherwise.

This position supports our Los Angeles, Century City, and Orange County offices, working an evening shift from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The role may be based in any of these locations.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Use Task Delegation and Workflow Management software (BigHand) to receive, update, and communicate about assignments.
  2. Serve as the primary responsible party for court filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  3. Assist with word processing, editing, and proofreading correspondence and reports.
  4. Manage time entry, appointments, meetings, and conference arrangements.
  5. Prepare signature packets, compile exhibits and schedules, and handle final document signatures.
  6. Process new business intake, forms, and correspondence.
  7. Handle expense reports, invoices, and check requests.
  8. Arrange travel, prepare itineraries, and maintain profiles.
  9. Coordinate printing, scanning, copying, and sending documents.
  10. Provide legal research and case support.
  11. Perform other administrative duties as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  1. Bachelor’s degree with at least seven years of relevant administrative experience, or equivalent.
  2. Previous law firm experience is required.
  3. Litigation experience is required; IP experience is preferred.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PDF software, iManage, and e-filing platforms.
  5. Ability to manage high-volume workload with attention to detail and independence.
  6. Strong judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  7. Flexibility to work overtime.
