Job summary

Cree LED, a Penguin Solutions brand, is seeking a Process Development Engineer in Raleigh/Durham, NC to support LED product and process development from early development through transfer to high-volume manufacturing.

You will run experiments, analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve yield, quality, manufacturability, and performance. This hands‑on role requires problem solving and willingness to travel if needed.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in a relevant engineering field.
• 2–5 years of process development or semiconductor/LED experience.
• Ability to collect and analyze technical data.
• Strong hands‑on problem‑solving and troubleshooting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support development, improvement, and transfer of LED products and processes into high-volume production.
• Assist with experiments, data collection, and analysis to evaluate process capability and yield.
• Troubleshoot process, product, yield, or quality issues using data-driven methods.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Support new product development from prototype to manufacturing release.
• Coordinate activities with R&D, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Facilities, Applications, Marketing, and Quality.
• Document results and next steps.
• Contribute to continuous improvement for product quality, reliability, cost, and efficiency.
• Support development of next-generation LED components.
