Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Leave of Absence Specialist to coordinate and administer employee leaves in partnership with a third-party administrator. You will review leave documents for compliance, advise staff on policies, payroll status, benefits continuation, and return-to-work requirements, and process paid leave payroll and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Minimum of two years of experience in Human Resources, leave administration, benefits administration, or a customer-focused administrative environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and administer employee leave of absence cases in partnership with the third-party leave administrator.
• Review and process leave documentation to ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
• Provide guidance to employees and managers on leave policies, pay status, benefits continuation, and return-to-work requirements.
• Process payroll for employees on paid leave and review/process benefit premium payments during leave periods.
• Collaborate with HR teams including Benefits, HR Business Partners, Occupational Health, and HRIS to resolve leave-related inquiries.
• Escalate complex cases or policy interpretation issues to the Leave of Absence Program Manager as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and accurate documentation of leave cases.
• Support continuous improvement efforts for leave administration processes and employee experience.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
