Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Leave of Absence Specialist to support administration and coordination of employee leave programs in accordance with policies and laws. You will work with HR partners and third-party administrators to ensure accurate case management, payroll for paid leaves, and regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the Leave of Absence Services Program Manager, you will guide employees and managers on policies, documentation, and return-to-work requirements while maintaining

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Minimum of two years of experience in Human Resources, leave administration, benefits administration, or a customer-focused administrative environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and administer employee leave of absence cases in partnership with the third-party leave administrator.
• Review and process leave documentation to ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
• Provide guidance to employees and managers on leave policies, pay status, benefits continuation, and return-to-work requirements.
• Process payroll for employees on paid leave and review/process benefit premium payments during leave periods.
• Collaborate with HR teams including Benefits, HR Business Partners, Occupational Health, and HRIS to resolve leave-related inquiries.
• Escalate complex cases or policy interpretation issues to the Leave of Absence Program Manager as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and accurate documentation of leave cases.
• Support continuous improvement efforts for leave administration processes and employee experience.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
