Leasing Specialist / Agent – Affordable Housing | Plainfield, NJ

Salary: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour | Full Time | Monday–Friday | 40 hours/week

What You Bring as a Leasing Specialist

• 2+ years of apartment leasing experience (preferred).
• Experience with affordable housing programs (LIHTC, HUD – Section 8, HOME, RD) (strongly preferred).
• Familiarity with Fair Housing and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in Yardi or similar property management software.
• Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Basic math and data‑entry abilities for rent collection and recordkeeping.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills are a plus.
• High school diploma or GED required; COS or TCS certification desired or willingness to obtain.

• Champion great first impressions – greet prospective residents, conduct tours, and highlight features that make Conifer communities special.
• Drive occupancy – market available units, respond to inquiries, and manage leasing applications and renewals.
• Ensure compliance – process applications and recertifications accurately under LIHTC, HUD, or other affordable housing programs.
• Deliver exceptional service – assist residents with rent collection, service requests, and community communications.
• Support teamwork – collaborate with maintenance and office staff to maintain high standards for property appearance and safety.
• Stay organized – manage reports, filing, and data entry to keep operations running smoothly.

Work Schedule

Work schedules may include Saturdays, based on property performance needs such as occupancy levels, leasing activity, and rent collections. Weekend coverage will be scheduled on a rotating basis and aligned with business priorities. Employees are expected to support leasing efforts, resident engagement, and rent collection activities during scheduled weekend hours.

Salary Description

$21.00 - $23.00 per hour.
