Job summary

Conifer Realty in Frederick, MD is seeking a Leasing Specialist to help residents find homes in our affordable communities. You’ll drive occupancy, welcome visitors, conduct tours, and ensure compliant leasing under LIHTC and HUD programs.

Join a team focused on service, community impact, and growth. The role requires strong customer service, organization, and knowledge of affordable housing programs; bilingual in Spanish/English is a plus, with a high school diploma required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years apartment leasing experience preferred.
• Experience with LIHTC/HUD-Section 8 programs strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with Fair Housing and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Greet prospective residents and conduct tours.
• Market available units and respond to inquiries.
• Process leasing applications and renewals.

Leasing Specialist / Agent – Affordable Housing | Frederick, MD

Salary: $20.00 - $21.00 | Full Time | Monday–Friday | 40hrs

What You Bring As a Leasing Specialist

• 2+ years of apartment leasing experience preferred.
• Experience with affordable housing programs (LIHTC, HUD-Section 8, HOME, RD) strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with Fair Housing and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in Yardi or similar property management software.
• Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Basic math and data-entry abilities for rent collection and recordkeeping.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills are a plus.
• High school diploma or GED required; COS or TCS certification desired or willingness to obtain.

• Drive occupancy – market available units, respond to inquiries, and manage leasing applications and renewals.
• Ensure compliance – process applications and recertifications accurately under LIHTC, HUD, or other affordable housing programs.
• Deliver exceptional service – assist residents with rent collection, service requests, and community communications.
• Support teamwork – collaborate with maintenance and office staff to maintain high standards for property appearance and safety.
• Stay organized – manage reports, filing, and data entry to keep operations running smoothly.

Requirements

Work schedules may include Saturdays, based on property performance needs such as occupancy levels, leasing activity, and rent collections. When required, weekend coverage will be scheduled on a rotating basis and aligned with business priorities. Employees are expected to support leasing efforts, resident engagement, and rent collection activities during scheduled weekend hours. Work schedules are subject to change based on business needs and property performance.
