Job summary

Volunteers of America Minnesota is seeking a Leasing Specialist to join our team in Minneapolis. This full-time role involves guiding prospective residents through the leasing process, conducting tours, explaining apartment features, processing applications, and completing lease paperwork with attention to accuracy and compliance.

You will maintain strong resident relationships, provide excellent customer service, assist with marketing to sustain occupancy, and coordinate with front desk

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
  • Associates Degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, Property Management, Human Services, Communications, or related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Affordable Housing (HUD preferred), property management, apartment leasing, hospitality, or customer-service environment.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a business office setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents throughout the leasing process, respond to inquiries, conduct property tours, explain features and amenities, and process applications and lease paperwork.
  • Follow up with prospective residents and maintain resident relationships while delivering excellent customer service.
  • Help with marketing and maintaining occupancy, ensuring leasing activities are accurate and compliant with housing program rules.
  • Manage waitlists, applications, approvals/denials, admissions and orientation, and purge applicants as needed.

Shift Details: Full-time - 40 hours/week

Schedule: Monday-Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm

Compensation: $20.00-$24.00/hour

About the job:

Responsible for assisting prospective and current residents throughout the leasing process. This includes but not limited to responding to inquiries, conducting property tours, explaining apartment features and community amenities, processing applications, completing lease paperwork and following up with prospective residents. In this role you will also help maintain strong relationships with the residents, provide excellent customer service, assists with marketing and maintaining occupancy, and ensures that leasing activities are completed accurately and in accordance with the company and housing program as this all helps highly with resident retention.

  • Manage the waitlist, the application/approval/denial process, admission and orientation of new residents and purging applicants from the waitlist
  • Market the property in accordance with Fair Housing Regulations and Management Agreement. Provide tours to interested parties and maintain waitlist in accordance to tenant selection plan
  • Assist Recertification Specialist with gathering verification documents, making copies and completing certification paperwork as needed
  • Assist with Front Desk coverage as needed

Required Qualifications:
