Job summary

The Learning and Development Specialist at Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens oversees the Conservatory’s training and development initiatives for our workforce. This includes researching, developing, and implementing training programs that offer employees continuous growth and advancement, and administering the Learning Management System (LMS).

Qualifications

• 2-5 years’ experience in a Human Resources role responsible for organizational Learning & Development.
• 2+ years’ experience managing projects with high detail.
• Experience administering a Learning Management System; Absorb LMS a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Admin, or Organizational Development.

JOB SUMMARY

The Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for managing the Conservatory’s training and development initiatives for our workforce based on the Conservatory’s learning & development strategy. This includes researching, developing, and implementing training programs that offer employees continuous growth and advancement. The Learning and Development Specialist facilitates the administration of the company’s Learning Management System (LMS), professional development policies, and talent development strategies.

The Learning and Development Specialist is a grant-funded position. Funding has been secured through December 31, 2028.

This job is based on site in Columbus, Ohio.

Compensation:

$55,000 - $61,000 annual salary.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Internal Learning & Development Program Administration
  • Assess training needs throughout the organization, review and deliver content, maintain existing content, and provide customer service to Learning Management System (LMS) users.
  • Facilitate the development of custom, organization-specific training modules to educate employees about mission, vision, values, history, business practices, and strategic plans.
  • Curate training curricula including ready-made LMS trainings, external resources, and internal resources to enhance widely used skills and align staff to strategic skill priorities.
• External Professional Development Administration
  • Assess and promote external professional development opportunities relevant to organization’s strategic priorities.
  • Facilitate administration of external professional development policies, recommending improvements as needed.
  • Compile external resources available throughout the organization into a central information repository accessible via LMS or other internal tools.
• Functional Excellence
  • Support and enhance the Conservatory’s Learning & Development strategy
  • Stay current on emerging learning technologies and trends to enhance training offerings.
  • Establish systems of receiving and reviewing feedback on L&D initiatives, conduct participant evaluations and focus groups, ensures organization is staying up-to-date on more current technology and business practices.
  • Provide data analytics and reporting as needed on all Learning and Development initiatives.
  • Serve as a collaborative member of the Human Resources team, supporting colleagues and assisting with departmental responsibilities, projects, and initiatives as needed; other duties as assigned.

CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• 2-5 years’ experience in a Human Resources role responsible for organizational Learning & Development.
• 2 or more years’ experience managing projects with a high level of detail.
• Previous experience administering a Learning Management System; familiarity with Absorb LMS is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
• Human Resources certification (SHRM-CP/PHR) is a plus.
• Learning & Development certification is a plus.
