Job description

Referment is working with a sophisticated, fast-paced organisation to appoint a Learning and Development Program Operations Manager. This role sits within the Learning and Development team and combines people leadership with hands‑on operational improvement.

You will develop a team of L&D coordinators while improving how learning programmes are delivered across the organisation. A central part of the mandate is partnering with colleagues focused on generative-AI learning, translating new ideas into well-run initiatives and helping the wider team adopt AI tools in practical, useful ways. This role is ideal for a hands‑on manager who remains close to delivery and enjoys the detail of execution.

The opportunity would suit an execution‑minded leader who enjoys making complex work easier to run. You will have room to strengthen processes, develop people and coordinate initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, while remaining close to delivery and treating internal services with a product‑led mindset.

The Role
  • Lead and develop L&D coordinators, setting clear priorities, delegating effectively, giving constructive feedback and supporting their professional growth.
  • Partner with the generative-AI learning team to deliver initiatives from planning through execution, ensuring stakeholders have the resources they need and sessions run smoothly.
  • Identify manual and time‑intensive L&D processes, then redesign them to achieve measurable efficiency improvements and scalability. This includes modernising project workflows using tools such as Mural, Microsoft Forms, Loop, and Planner to improve transparency and automation.
  • Encourage practical adoption of generative-AI tools within team workflows, helping colleagues use them confidently to improve content development, research, and administrative efficiency.
  • Keep complex, multi‑stakeholder programmes on track by anticipating risks and dependencies, resolving delivery issues and communicating clearly with senior stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
  • A bachelor's degree and at least seven years of experience in programme management, operations, or a related field, currently operating at a Manager level with a focus on hands‑on delivery.
  • A proven track record in operational process redesign, with experience modernising workflows to achieve measurable efficiency and transparency.
  • Recent, practical experience applying generative-AI tools to improve business workflows, content development, or team productivity.
  • Experience managing and developing people, alongside excellent organisation, project management and delegation skills.
  • A versatile background in PMO leadership or workforce innovation, with the ability to manage broad operational challenges rather than a career focused on a single niche HR function.
  • Experience in Product Management, or a background in treating internal services as a product, is highly desirable.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, confidence working with senior stakeholders and the ability to collaborate with a low‑ego, adaptable approach.
  • Comfort operating through ambiguity while maintaining momentum, clarity and attention to detail.

Direct L&D experience would be useful but is not essential. Strong candidates may come from programme management, operational excellence, product management, or other environments where they have led teams, improved workflows and delivered complex initiatives.

This could suit an experienced programme or operations manager who wants to combine team development with process transformation and practical AI adoption.
