Job summary

Smithfield Foods in Maryland is seeking a Processing Improvement Engineering Manager to drive end-to-end optimization across manufacturing sites, lead lean initiatives, and build high-performing engineering teams to improve efficiency, quality, and cost performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field and 5+ years of manufacturing/industrial engineering experience.
• 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership.
• Demonstrated success in lean manufacturing, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, and statistical analysis.
• Ability to travel up to 50%, depending on project scope.

Responsibilities

• Process Optimization and Lean Implementation: analyze and improve manufacturing processes, lead lean techniques to reduce waste and boost throughput.
• Project and Program Management: manage multiple concurrent projects, ensure timelines and budgets are met.
• Data Analytics and Continuous Improvement: use data and root cause analysis to identify opportunities and drive improvements.
• SOP and Business Systems: develop labor standards and SOPs, support cost analysis and financial planning.
• Cross-Function Collaboration and Execution: work with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to implement initiatives.
• Training, Coaching, and Knowledge Transfer: conduct workshops and mentor staff in optimization best practices.
• Compliance, Auditing, and Governance: conduct audits and ensure regulatory alignment and process integrity.
• Innovation and Technology Integration: evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance capabilities.
• Leadership: foster a positive employee experience through development and coaching.
