Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking an Associate Process Improvement Engineer in the United States to drive high-impact improvements across manufacturing and operations. You will apply engineering principles, data analytics, and lean methods to streamline processes, improve product quality, and reduce costs across facilities.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams and senior leadership, you will implement continuous improvement strategies and help embed our Smithfield Way while developing SOPs,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Currently enrolled student with anticipated graduation by end of current school year considered qualified.
• Experience with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process Optimization: evaluate plant efficiencies by analyzing workforce utilization, facility layouts, and workflows; conduct time studies and capacity analyses.
• Continuous Improvement and Lean Initiatives: implement improvements using A3 problem-solving, Kaizen events, and Value Stream Mapping; support Smithfield Way principles.
• Data Analysis and Problem Solving: assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions using data insights.
• Technology and Systems: help implement new equipment or technologies to improve production and monitor installations.
• SOP and Development: create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and visual management systems.
• Training and Coaching: participate in and facilitate training workshops.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: partner with operations, engineering, and leadership to drive standardized processes.
• Compliance, Reporting and Sustainability: support audits and sustainability goals around energy, water, and waste reduction.
