Job summary

Smithfield Foods in the United States is seeking a Senior Process Improvement Engineer to lead high-impact manufacturing initiatives across facilities. You will apply lean methods to improve efficiency, product quality, and safety while delivering measurable cost reductions.

You will partner with Operations, Quality, Maintenance and Supply Chain to drive data-driven projects, develop SOPs and labor standards, and train teams to sustain gains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 5+ years of relevant manufacturing/continuous improvement experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading CI or lean initiatives across multiple departments or facilities.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and improve plant processes to increase operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
• Lead lean initiatives (Kaizen, 5S, A3 problem solving, Value Stream Mapping) to drive continuous improvement.
• Manage multiple engineering and continuous improvement projects from concept through implementation within budget and schedule.
• Conduct root cause analysis and data collection to uncover opportunities for improvement and track productivity.
• Develop SOPs, labor standards, and production measurement systems to ensure consistent operations.
• Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to drive cross-functional improvements.
• Facilitate training and coach plant personnel on process optimization best practices.
• Support process validation and installation of new equipment to ensure efficiency from day one.
• Ensure cost analysis, financial planning, and governance are embedded in projects.
• Uphold compliance, governance, and quality assurance across sites.
