Job summary

Accounting Search seeks a Manufacturing Supervisor in Detroit to direct production teams, manage scheduling, and drive Lean improvements in a unionized plant. You will oversee material flow, quality checks, and safety while working to meet and beat budgeted production levels.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, coordinating materials, implementing Lean practices, and ensuring accurate timekeeping and reporting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in material handling or manufacturing plant operations.
• 2+ years supervising employees.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Lean or continuous improvement experience.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with forklift operation.
• Experience with MIG welding is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, direct and lead production employees to meet budgeted production levels.
• Determine and assign work schedules and expedite workflow.
• Coordinate materials for jobs and maintain inventory levels.
• Ensure quality and policy conformance; inspect first piece and periodic checks.
• Supervise for quality, efficiency, teamwork, and safety.
• Implement Lean layouts, techniques, and tools in area.
• Balance quality, productivity, cost and safety.
• Train, motivate, monitor and evaluate employee performance.
• Control and minimize labor hours.
• Ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures.
• Investigate accidents and injuries.
• Maintain shop floor organization and housekeeping.
• Minimize rework and shop supply expenses.
• Communicate priority projects or problems affecting schedules and ship dates.
• Manage timecards and production cards deadlines.
• Communicate professionally with co-workers.
• Report employee problems to Human Resources.
• Administer CBAs and Work Rules and handle grievances at 1st Step.
• Set up work areas for next day.
• Open and close the building.
