Responsibilities

• Cleans hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevator banks, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas; cleans floors using brooms, mops, and powered cleaning machines; polishes metal fixtures; washes windows and sills; empties wastebaskets; replenishes janitor closets.
• Assigns tasks and issues supplies and equipment to employees; inspects completed work for conformance to standards; requisitions supplies and equipment from Supervisor, APM, or PM.
• Trains employees on assigned work and in using equipment; addresses complaints; refers to supervisor as needed.
• Fills in for general cleaning staff and operates power equipment; during inclement weather provides snow removal from walkways and entrances per contract.
• Completes safety training and follows Didlake safety guidelines for equipment use and activities.

The Lead Worker-Janitor provides hands-on support and guidance to individuals with significant disabilities, helping them develop workplace, communication, and interpersonal skills. The role assists the Janitorial Supervisor with directing and supervising cleaning crews while also performing janitorial duties, with responsibilities split approximately 50/50 between supervision and cleaning tasks.

What You Will Do

• Cleans hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevator banks, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas; cleans floors using brooms, mops, and powered cleaning machines; polishes metalwork such as fixtures and fittings; washes windows, door panels, and sills; empties wastebaskets; and replenishes janitor closets.
• Assigns tasks and issues supplies and equipment to employees, inspects completed work for conformance to standards, and requisitions supplies and equipment from Supervisor, APM, or PM.
• Trains employees on how to do assigned work and in using equipment and supplies appropriately; addresses complaints and resolves problems of employees and customers; refers to supervisor as deemed necessary.
• Fills in for general cleaning staff as needed and operates power equipment such as two-stage snow blowers. When specified in the contract, during inclement weather, provides proper upkeep by removing snow from walkways, building entrances and dock ramps, and spreading snow/ice melting chemicals.
• Completes and maintains all Didlake required training and is responsible for following safety standards and guidelines in the proper use of the equipment and other activities.
