Job summary

Didlake, Inc. is seeking a Lead Worker – Janitor to supervise cleaning crews, train staff on standard procedures, and uphold safety and quality standards across facilities.

This role supports the Janitorial Supervisor by coordinating tasks, inspecting completed work, and ensuring compliance with contract guidelines. The position requires at least one year of custodial experience, strong communication, and the ability to work with individuals who have significant disabilities.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in commercial custodial or maintenance services.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Valid REAL ID is required to enter the worksite.
• Ability to pass a background check and maintain a clearance.
• Knowledge of general cleaning products and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Cleans hallways, lobbies, restrooms and other areas; operate cleaning equipment and maintain cleanliness to standards.
• Assigns tasks, inspects work, and requisitions supplies and equipment.
• Trains staff on procedures and safe equipment use; addresses complaints.
• Fills in for general cleaning staff and operates power equipment; snow removal when required.
• Completes Didlake required training and follows safety guidelines.

The Lead Worker – Janitor provides support, assistance, and guidance to individuals with significant disabilities to help develop work skills and support growth and upward mobility within Didlake. This position assists the Janitorial Supervisor with the direction, coordination, and supervision of cleaning crews, performs janitorial tasks in accordance with contract guidelines, and provides ongoing training on standard operating procedures and the safe operation of equipment.

What You Will Do

• Cleans hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevator banks, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas; cleans floors using brooms, mops, and powered cleaning machines; polishes metalwork such as fixtures and fittings; washes windows, door panels, and sills; empties wastebaskets; and replenishes janitor closets.
• Assigns tasks and issues supplies and equipment to employees, inspects completed work for conformance to standards, and requisitions supplies and equipment from Supervisor, APM, or PM.
• Trains employees on how to do assigned work and in using equipment and supplies appropriately; addresses complaints and resolves problems of employees and customers; refers to supervisor as deemed necessary.
• Fills in for general cleaning staff as needed and operates power equipment such as two‑stage snow blowers. When specified in the contract, during inclement weather, provides proper upkeep by removing snow from walkways, building entrances and dock ramps, and spreading snow/ice melting chemicals.
• Completes and maintains all Didlake required training and is responsible for following safety standards and guidelines in the proper use of the equipment and other activities.

What You Bring

You bring at least one year of relevant experience in commercial custodial or maintenance services, knowledge of general cleaning products and equipment, and the ability to support and retrain staff on safe operating procedures. Strong communication, sound judgment, adaptability, and the ability to interact effectively and supportively with people with disabilities are essential.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• One (1) year of recent experience in commercial custodial or maintenance services.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
