Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs is seeking a Lead Wind Technician to oversee day-to-day maintenance and operations at the Ocotillo wind site. You will supervise mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical work on turbines and substation equipment, ensure adherence to safety standards, and help sustain high availability and profitability.

The role requires climbing towers, troubleshooting complex systems, and mentoring junior technicians while documenting work in service reports.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Associate's degree (electrical or technical) and 2+ years of turbine experience, or 5+ years of wind turbine experience.
• 1+ years of independent turbine troubleshooting experience.
• Able to climb towers unassisted up to 300 feet.
• Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
• Able to work with electrical wires and differentiate colors.
• Proficiency in MS Office and Word/Excel documentation.
• Knowledge of wind turbine subsystems and OEM maintenance methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance and substation activities for wind turbines to keep operations safe and profitable.
• Monitor safe work practices for wind plants and personnel.
• Inspect completed repairs and scheduled maintenance for QA.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on equipment.
• Perform maintenance and replacements per procedures and standards.
• Mentor and train lower-level operation and maintenance staff.
• Document all work, parts, and time using service reporting tools.
• Read electrical schematics and mentor others as needed.
• Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and organized.
• Work a flexible schedule including weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
