Job summary

North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) is seeking a Lead Wastewater Plant Operator to oversee the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of our wastewater facilities. You will supervise staff, train others, and ensure water quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across headworks, treatment, solids handling, and SCADA systems.

Ideal candidates hold a Texas Class B Wastewater Operator license, have 4+ years of relevant experience, and a valid Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or trade certification preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of wastewater treatment experience or equivalent.
• Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Class B Wastewater Operator license.
• Valid Texas driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, analyze, and adjust facility operations using SCADA to ensure compliant operations.
• Lead, mentor staff; promote integrity, trust, respect, unity, safety, and teamwork.
• Review logs and records for accuracy; use to improve operations.
• Assist in preparing work schedules and reports on treatment facility management, operation, and maintenance.
• Create service requests; coordinate repairs; plan and implement maintenance procedures.
• Enforce safety policies and promote workplace safety.
• Monitor facility for security breaches; coordinate with law enforcement as needed.
• Communicate during emergencies; troubleshoot, diagnose, and report problems; coordinate responses.
• Respond to stakeholder inquiries; maintain facility grounds; perform inventory control.
• Assume supervisor responsibilities when required; perform other duties.
