Job summary

North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) seeks a Wastewater Plant Operator III to oversee the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of wastewater facilities, including headworks, liquids treatment, solids handling, odor control, SCADA, and lift stations.

Under supervision, you will train staff, monitor safety, maintain logs, coordinate with maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and respond to emergencies to ensure compliant, efficient facility performance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or trade certification preferred.
• Maintain Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Class B Wastewater Treatment Operator’s License.
• Minimum of three years of wastewater treatment or relevant experience.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, analyze, and adjust facility operations using observations, sampling, instrumentation, and SCADA to ensure compliant performance.
• Train, lead, and mentor staff; set a positive example and promote safety and teamwork.
• Notify appropriate personnel of abnormal conditions; coordinate with maintenance on repairs.
• Plan, perform, and document maintenance procedures for treatment assets and lift stations.
• Maintain thorough logs and records; use data to improve efficiency and reliability of operations.
• Respond to emergencies; coordinate responses, repairs, clean-up, and remediation as directed.
