Job summary

North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) is seeking a Wastewater Plant Operator II to manage and monitor wastewater facilities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. You will perform routine operation, maintenance, and data collection using SCADA, analyze samples, and coordinate with maintenance staff.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a Class C license, and at least two years of wastewater experience. The role demands physical work and occasional shifts.

Qualifications

• Possess a high school diploma or GED. An associate degree or trade certification is preferred.
• Possess minimum of two (2) years of experience in wastewater treatment or a suitable combination of directly relevant education and experience, as determined by NTMWD.
• Maintain a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Class C Wastewater Treatment Operator’s License.
• Requires a valid Texas Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Monitors, analyzes, and recommends adjustments to facility operations through observation, collecting and testing samples, reading instrumentation, and using SCADA to ensure compliant and efficient operations.
• Notifies appropriate personnel of abnormal conditions, needed repairs and renewal. Coordinates with maintenance personnel on repairs. Plans, performs, and implements maintenance procedures for facility assets.
• Maintains thorough logs and records in both written and electronic form as required. Uses these records to suggest ideas to improve the function and efficiency of various operations.
• Observes safety policies and guidelines as required by State statutes and as prescribed by NTMWD.
• Monitors the facility for any breaches of security and alerts appropriate law enforcement agencies and/or supervisors, as appropriate for the situation.
