Job summary

R-2 Contractors is seeking a Utility-Scale Power & Renewables Project Manager to own commercial, contractual, financial, and administrative success from turnover through closeout on utility-scale infrastructure projects. Location options include Gilbert, AZ and Prineville, OR, with up to 20% travel nationwide and on-site work only.

The role partners with Field Operations to align staffing, scheduling, and milestones, while driving budgets, forecasts, and change management to protect margins.

Qualifications

• Experience managing heavy civil, solar, BESS, substation, transmission, or underground infrastructure construction projects in the utility-scale market.
• Demonstrated command of contracts, estimating handoffs, project budgets, forecasting, scheduling, and change management.
• Ability to read construction plans, specifications, scope letters, and pricing schedules and translate them into execution requirements.
• Strong negotiation, communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills; willingness to travel nationwide as required.
• Preferred: someone who has worked their way into the project management department through hands-on field experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned projects from estimating turnover through execution, customer acceptance, and final closeout.
• Serve as the primary commercial and contractual point of contact for customers, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Establish project priorities, responsibilities, deadlines, and clear communication between all participating departments.
• Own commitments, solve problems proactively, and elevate material risks with recommended solutions.
• Build a mobilization-driven preconstruction schedule covering permits, access, submittals, procurement, and deliveries.
• Coordinate the master schedule, lookahead, and resource readiness with Field Operations.
• Identify scope gaps and design conflicts before mobilization.
