Job summary

The City of Amarillo seeks a Utility Mechanic III to maintain the Surface Water Treatment plant and Raw Water Reservoir facilities. Under supervision, you will perform major overhauls, conduct preventive maintenance, and lead routine repairs of mechanical systems and pumping equipment.

Your role requires a High School diploma, 3+ years in water treatment maintenance, and licenses including Class C SWO, CDL-B, and Chemical Applicator. Welding certs and BPAT are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years experience in water treatment maintenance.
• Class C Surface Water Operator License.
• Texas Class B CDL.
• Chemical Applicator’s License.
• Welding certification.
• BPAT license preferred.
• After-hours call-back capability required.

Responsibilities

• Performs major overhaul maintenance on mechanical systems at the Surface Water Treatment Plant and Raw Water Reservoir.
• Assists supervisor with safety training and program.
• Trouble-shoots mechanical malfunctions.
• Coordinates with supervisor to schedule and prioritize workload.
• Maintains extensive preventative maintenance program for plant and pumping systems.
• Generates part and equipment requests for repairs and maintenance.
• Manages maintenance logs and supports budgeting discussions.
