Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks an experienced Underground Transmission Engineer to lead the design of complex underground lines up to 500kV. You will manage cost analyses, routing, duct bank layouts, and material specifications, coordinating with vendors and clients. A BS from an ABET-accredited program and a current PE license are required.

The role supports a hybrid work arrangement with three days in-office and relocation package eligibility depending on location.

Qualifications

• BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Current PE License.
• Proficiency with CYMCAP modeling.
• Proficiency with cable tensioning calculations and software.
• 12+ years leading a design team on complex underground transmission projects.
• Experience designing with code requirements and EPRI/IEC/IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Experience with cost estimate development and schedule coordination.
• Experience with XLPE cable design and procurement specifications.
• Knowledge of right-of-way, bonding schemes, drawings, and construction documents.
• Familiarity with design tools and producing technical plans and models.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication; attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design of complex underground transmission lines up to 500kV.
• Lead cost analyses, develop design criteria, and plan routing for complex environments.
• Develop duct bank layouts, trenchless designs, and cable pulling calculations.
• Prepare specifications for installation and procurement of underground transmission line materials.
• Coordinate with vendors and clients to specify line components.
• Direct project team of engineers, designers, and drafters.
