Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Transportation Technician III to serve as a lead inspector for transportation construction projects in North Carolina. You will supervise field staff, verify conformance to plans and specs, measure pay items, and manage inspector records.

The position requires an associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related field with five years of experience.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related field with five years of technician experience preferred.
• NCDOT certifications are preferred; valid driver's license is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection of contractor operations on transportation projects to verify conformance to plans and specifications.
• Supervise and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout construction of the project.
• Measure and track quantities of pay items.
• Gather and maintain record documents including material certifications, testing reports, and inspector's daily diaries.
• Interact with the public, government agencies, contractors, subcontractors, and other parties to respond to inquiries and resolve field issues.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
