Job summary

Traffic Planning and Design, Inc. (TPD) is seeking engineers in the New York area to contribute to a range of traffic engineering projects.

The role requires a civil engineering degree, NY PE license or the ability to obtain it within six months, and experience with traffic design, work zones, and multidisciplinary teams. Ideal candidates have 4–8 years of experience, strong work ethic, teamwork spirit, and the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license in NY required (or ability to obtain within first 6 months).
• Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) desirable.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with NYSDOT/NYCDOT/CTDOT/NJDOT experience desirable.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects, staff and clients.
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams on tasks such as work zone traffic, intersection design, traffic signal design, roadway signing and pavement marking plans, DOT access permitting, control plans and traffic signal operations analysis.
• Assist in the preparation specifications, plans, construction schedules, impact studies, permits, and designs for projects.
• Assist with traffic/parking studies, corridor planning, feasibility studies, and safety audits.
• Coordinate with field inspection staff and serve as an on-site project representative.
