Job summary

LVI Associates is seeking a Senior Traffic Designer to lead its transportation engineering practice across New England. The role focuses on managing traffic signal and ITS projects, mentoring staff, and developing client relationships.

The position offers collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, planners, scientists, and PMs on impactful regional projects. Flexible work arrangements and multiple New England offices support a strong professional growth path.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of traffic engineering, traffic signal, and/or ITS experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain reciprocity in the region.
• Strong project management experience with transportation projects.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
• Proficiency with traffic engineering and design software.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of traffic signal and ITS designers and engineers.
• Manage traffic engineering, traffic signal, roadway improvement, and ITS projects from planning through final design and construction.
• Provide technical oversight and quality control for plans, specifications, estimates, and contract documents.
• Develop traffic signal layouts, interconnect, signing, pavement marking, and traffic control plans.
• Perform traffic operations analyses and engineering studies.
• Coordinate with state DOTs, municipalities, utility companies, and public agencies.
• Support business development efforts and help expand the firm's traffic engineering and ITS presence throughout New England.
• Participate in client meetings, project presentations, and proposal development.
• Conduct field investigations and oversee construction support activities.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on traffic signal operations, ITS systems, and transportation design best practices.
