Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Traffic Engineer to join the New England team with offices in Boston, MA, Providence, RI, and Glastonbury, CT. You will provide high-level traffic analysis, design, and planning across roadways, intersections, and ITS initiatives.

The role requires a PE license and 3–5 years of experience in traffic engineering, with proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and traffic software. Expect collaboration with DOT authorities and multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or closely related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5 years of post-education engineering and traffic design experience.
• Professional Engineer license required, preferably in New England states.
• Proficient knowledge of traffic engineering principles, design, and traffic control devices.
• Experience with roadway planning, design, construction management, and traffic analyses.
• Strong self-leadership, attention to detail, and QA/QC adherence.
• Proficient with MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation; MUTCD, HCM, NACTO, AASHTO guides.
• Experience with traffic engineering software: Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, Vissim, SIDRA, SignCad, StreetLight/Replica HQ.

Responsibilities

• Apply high-level traffic engineering techniques for concept to construction phases.
• Investigate site conditions, roadways, intersections, and traffic control for conformance with standards.
• Develop concepts for intersection and corridor improvements and coordinate with authorities.
• Design ITS networks and signal improvements for real-time corridor operations.
• Incorporate advanced technologies and modeling to improve safety and functionality.
• Prepare data, tables, charts, and technical reports for findings and recommendations.
• Collaborate with engineers, planners, and DOT authorities on funded projects.
• Stay current with latest traffic engineering practices.
