Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Traffic Engineer to join our New England team. The role is based in multiple offices (Boston, MA; Glastonbury, CT; Providence, RI) and focuses on traffic analysis, design, and corridor improvements.

Ideal candidates bring 3–5 years of experience, a PE license, and strong knowledge of MUTCD, HCM, and related design guidelines. Expect collaboration with DOT authorities and sub-consultants on diverse projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or closely related field
• 3–5 years post-education experience in engineering and traffic design
• Professional Engineer license, preferably NE states
• Strong knowledge of traffic engineering principles and design elements
• Experience with roadway planning, design, and construction management
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with QA/QC
• Proficient with MS Office and common traffic design tools

Responsibilities

• Apply high-level traffic engineering techniques for various project phases
• Conduct investigations of site conditions and traffic operations for conformance
• Develop concepts for intersection and corridor improvements
• Design ITS networks and traffic signal improvements
• Incorporate advanced technologies and modeling for safe, efficient outcomes
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders
• Collaborate with DOT authorities and sub-consultants on projects
• Stay current with latest traffic engineering practices
• Support project leadership and junior team members
