Job summary

Compass International Holdings seeks a detail‑oriented Title Examiner to join our team in California. You will examine chains of title, analyze recorded documents, and determine ownership and liens to ensure clear title for closing.

You will prepare title commitments, endorsements, and write-ups for title insurance; respond to customer requests; and may supervise title assistants. Strong reading, math, and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
• Ability to respond to inquiries from customers/regulators/partners.
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts (percentages, ratios) to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.

Responsibilities

• Examine chains of title and records to determine ownership and legal restrictions and verify legal description.
• Copy and summarize recorded documents affecting title condition.
• Prepare title commitments, endorsements, policies, and credits.
• Conduct file maintenance and respond to customer requests within underwriter guidelines.
• Review documents and perform date-down prior to recording original documents.
• Train team members on title related products and services.
