Job summary

Compass International Holdings seeks a skilled Commercial Title Examiner with 5+ years of Texas title examination experience, including commercial and acreage properties. The role involves thorough title searches, document reviews, and preparing commitments in a fast-paced environment.

You will review mortgages, deeds, probate records, and trust agreements, interpret legal documents, and assemble Title Commitments for final policy issuance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of Texas title examination experience.
• Strong understanding of title examination process and procedures, related documentation, and their effect upon title.
• Fully versed in Commercial, Residential and Acreage (metes and bounds) examinations, experience in Texas.
• Proficient in the use of TIMS title plant software and Deed Plotter, experienced with County Government websites.
• Good research/investigation skills and understanding of legal terms; aware of changes in property law.
• Excellent verbal and written skills and attention to detail, plus customer service.
• Ability to prioritize according to departmental guidelines, strong organization, and meeting deadlines.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use Outlook, Word, Acrobat.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough search of public records and examinations to assess property title status.
• Review documents affecting title such as mortgages, deeds, probate records, and trust agreements.
• Read and interpret real estate documents, legal proceedings, maps, and surveys.
• Assemble Title Commitments to issue a Final Title Policy.
• Communicate effectively with Underwriters, Title Officers, Escrow Officers, and processing teams.
• Mentor junior examiners on title issues.
