ClearEdge Title is seeking a Title Insurance Examiner to review property records and determine title status, identifying issues that may affect ownership. This role ensures accuracy in title reports and commitments and supports underwriting decisions.

The Examiner collaborates with internal teams and external partners to verify legal descriptions, resolve title defects, and maintain compliance with company standards. Strong research, documentation, and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in title examination or abstracting is required.
• Familiarity with public records and title insurance practices.
• Knowledge of state and local regulations affecting property ownership.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret complex legal documents.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lists of all legal instruments applying to a specific parcel.
• Examine mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, plat books, maps and contracts to verify title factors.
• Read search requests to obtain property descriptions and involved parties' names.
• Copy or summarize recorded documents that affect property titles.
• Prepare reports describing title encumbrances and actions needed to clear titles.
• Verify accuracy and completeness of land documents for registration and issue rejection notices when needed.
• Collaborate with realtors, lenders, buyers, sellers, surveyors and courthouse personnel to resolve issues.
• Obtain maps or drawings delineating properties from title plants or assessors' offices.
• Examine property records to determine ownership and encumbrances.
• Prepare detailed title reports and identify potential issues.
