Blue Origin LLC in the Greater Seattle Area is seeking a Thermal Protection System Lead to drive TPS design from concept through integration for crewed lunar programs. You will lead material selection, stacking configurations, and verification efforts, working with cross-functional teams to ensure safety and performance under extreme environments.

The role requires a strong background in mechanical or aerospace thermal engineering, hands-on hardware testing, and experience with aerospace

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering required.
• 7+ years of relevant thermal engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of thermal fundamentals.
• Familiarity with TPS materials used in protective systems.
• Experience building and testing hardware in extreme environments.
• Knowledge of aerospace hardware verification and validation processes.
• Ability to earn trust and work well in a diverse, inclusive team.

Responsibilities

• Lead Thermal Protection System design including material selection and stack configuration.
• Own TPS delivery and hardware solutions.
• Guide development and testing campaigns for new materials.
• Develop flight implementation and installation approaches.
• Balance hardware design against cost and schedule; perform trade studies.
• Document results and present at program reviews.
• Communicate progress to leadership and stakeholders.
